Hello friends and fellow GCSA members,

 

          Can you believe another year as flown by… as the old saying goes, the older you get the faster times flies…and 2002 did seem to just fly!!!

 

          We have good things in store for Gulf Coast Stock Dog Association in 2003. 

 

          The Board Meeting was held at William and Betty Hetzel’s home in January.  We want to thank William and Betty for inviting us to have this meeting at their home.  I also want to thank Betty for the wonderful food she prepared for us. She certainly went out of her way and if was much appreciated.  We need to have more meetings there!

 

          The Board voted to go back to the old rules, which is included in this brochure. Also, the Board voted to affiliate our trials with the USBCHA Open and Nursery Cattle Dog Finals each year. Remember you must be a member of the USBCHA in order to get points and quality for the finals. This in no way affects the way we score our trials at GCSA.

 

We will have a High Point Dog Of The Year (highest points accumulated in each class) also, we will have an end of the year finals.  This will consist of the top 15 dogs out of each class will compete for the GCSA Champion in each class; OPEN, PRO/NOVICE, NOVICE.  We think this will make for an exciting year of trailing.

Remember that we are a club and we all need to work together, even though we are competing against each other we need to keep it fun and have a good time!

 

I would like to let everyone know that I was ask to give a cattle dog demonstration at The Dixie National Livestock Show in Jackson on January 29^th during the World Cow Catch Finals that included over 400 teams competing from all over the US.  I put our GCSA sign up in the arena and the announcer, my husband, Larry Bush gave us some really good advertisement.  This type of cattle dog demonstration has never been done during the Dixie National. Everyone really enjoyed it and it was even mentioned on the radio that this was the high light of the event.
